Oskar's back to his squirrel tricks again, using his botnets to fool artists on 2Square! This fun track started out when I was working on my previous release Audio's Amigos, and aimlessly typed in the brass melody which would recur throughout this track. I copied over the track settings from another track of mine called Not Mussel, such as the drum machines and bass sidechain, and used ttsmp3.com to generate an obvious robotic voice mocking the formulaic writing style of fake "music promoters" on social media. I believe this is one of my most well-mastered tracks yet, and I'm happy with how it turned out as I usually struggle with bass mastering.

The cover art depicts Oskar Cybil, a sadistic cyborg prankster squirrel who has access to a lot of botnets and likes to spread gossip and chaos on social media with his fake accounts, especially on 2Square! Like almost all my cover arts, it was made in the iOS app Assembly. The cover art depicts the typical, unsolicited DMs indie artists might get from the many fake "music promo" bots rife on social media, in all their grammatically-incorrect glory.

This track was made to spread awareness about the problem with bots on social media who prey on new artists to scam them of their money, as well as playfully mocking the culture of buying artificial streams, views, likes, and followers just to appear more famous than one actually is. It also mocks those who simply comment "I need new music" on social media just to get lots of comments from artists who want to be heard (I admit I was once one of them) and appear more popular in social media algorithms. However, as an admittedly ironic twist, the track was also titled "I Need New Music" to actually appear more in social media algorithms when people look up the term to find posts to comment on when radio stations (genuine ones) announce they're playing this track. It also helps counter the clout-chasers commenting that they need new music but don't actually listen to what artists post.

I encourage all indie artists to do what they do for the love of creating art, not for fame or followers. Social media nowadays has too many people focusing on getting higher numbers and trying to beat algorithms which is killing art.
