2023 OVERVIEW is extratone - an extreme genre of electro music where tracks are at least 1,000 BPM. Previously in these set of tracks, which I call the 202X Series, each tracks' BPMs reflect how crazy each half of a year in the 2020s is. However, ever since 10000 OVERKILL I am challenging myself to make much faster music, so this one is 3600 BPM!

Creating this track took only a few days. It was started on March 3rd, 2023, but 98% of it was finished in late June and early July. It was quite annoying to make this at first, but after just typing aimlessly on the keyboard, I made a cool violin staccato melody common in the 202X series that helped me get a start on the track, and I think it's among my best stringed sections in my music yet! After a while I enjoyed just setting out the basics in the track, making it to the end, then going back through the track, chopping up more notes and sprinkling other intricate sounds everywhere.

The cover artwork of 2023 OVERRULE follows what I call the "202X aesthetic" of all my tracks' cover artworks in the 202X Series: a pink-and-black chaotic collage of the events of the first half of 2023. Some of the events depicted include:

1. The destruction of a Ukrainian dam.
2. Hazardous air pollution as a result of fires.
3. AI’s rapid advancement and experts calling for a pause on its development.
4. The Brazilian National Congress building stormed by protestors.
5. The derailment of a train in Ohio that released toxic chemicals like vinyl chloride into the air.
6. King Charles III’s coronation.
7. People losing their jobs in media, tech, and banks, either due to layoffs, bank collapses, or media under new management.
8. The launch of the SpaceX Starship.
9. Spy balloons.
10. A hurricane symbolising Cyclone Freddy.
11. The magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey and Syria, causing the same city depicting the mass lay-offs to tilt and its population to fall over.
12. Tipped-over ballot boxes symbolising unrest at polling stations worldwide and the threat to democracies.

Other facts about 2023 OVERRULE:

- It's my 170th track!
- The cover art was originally going to be brown and black, but I went for pink and black to make it better stand out with the six 202X tracks' cover arts released before this one. Also, the shade of pink was originally purple.
- Its original release date was planned to be June 30 if I had finished it earlier, but I instead went for 10000 OVERKILL to release on June 30 because I wanted to "make a new fastest MOULE track" of a ridiculously higher tempo than usual - I don't see the point in promoting a "new fastest track" only to release a much faster track shortly after. I also was gonna release this on July 21 fearing I wouldn't finish this earlier, but thankfully I did and it was released on July 14.
- The cover art was finished in around mid-June, but if I made it later, I definitely would've depicted more recent ocean tragedies like the boat carrying migrants that capsized in the Mediterranean sea, or the Titan capsule that imploded on the way to the Titanic. I also would've added the Eiffel Tower to symbolise the new protests in France and the pension reform going from 62 to 64 without a public vote on it. I admit I rushed to finish this cover art seeing as it was already full, and I couldn't move some objects around because I hadn't grouped some and it would be too time-consuming to move them all.
- I ended up making some really cool sounds while messing around in this track's project file (you can hear them at the start of introducing each new section in this track) that ended up being used in the track I released after this called Reality Collapse: moule.bandcamp.com/track/reality-collapse
- This is the first track in the 202X series to have its own cover art timelapse: youtu.be/UJmIQkQ1ikU
- It's my 91st release - I'm almost at my 100th!
