about

CITADEL: To your battle stations! Citadel is gaming-themed glitch hop music inspired by music commonly used in the intros of gaming YouTube channels!

My 104th track, made on October 14, 2019, Citadel was another product of messing around with new sounds I imported from GarageBand from my iPad to the MacBook version.

I've recently come to realise that I tend to make music based around concepts, themes, and ideas, not genres. The genres come later, rarely have I started producing with "I'm gonna make a progressive tech house track today" on my mind. I only see genres as a way to categorise styles of music to help people look for certain types of music.

What I start with determines what I'll finish with, and I knew from using the new sounds at the start of the track, that I'd end up making something sounding like "glitch hop". I remembered a lot of gaming music playlists and mixes sounding like this track I began making, so I added some bleeps and bloops to include a "gaming" aspect to my track. As I listened to it, images of a blue citadel popped into my head, hence the title and cover art.

There's nothing much to say about it really, other than that it was also my first release after getting into music distribution. All other links to other streaming services can be found at distrokid.com/hyperfollow/moule/citadel!
