HALCYON: My first track I've ever released! A peaceful yet chaotic IDM / glitchy soundscape of bleeps, bloops, and soothing pads.

Halcyon was originally created in the middle of January of 2019. It is one of the many tracks I've made over 4-and-a-half years, which over time I'll upload to this Bandcamp page once I get to finalising them.

Halcyon began when I typed a few notes into my keyboard through a new "bitcrushed bell" sound I made, and then I added the calming bass and drums. After finishing the first drum section, I sat back and listened to what I had made, and felt very nostalgic for some reason. I figured Halcyon was a good name, because that word means "a period of time in the past which was peaceful and happy". It also refers to a mythological bird which was said to calm the ocean waves at the winter solstice. Knowing this, Halcyon seemed like a fitting title for this track.

I emphasised the nostalgic aspects of this track by adding various short computer-y bleeps and bloops, which get more and more pronounced towards the end. As the listener slowly returns from their idyllic bliss to reality, they appreciate the calmness they experienced at the beginning.
